A Bit About Me

Jeff Young, MS (Exercise and Sport Science), doctoral student (EdD, Kinesiology), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), ACSM-EIM works primarily in medical fitness, and has worked at world-class facilities such as Duke University, UCLA, and Beth Israel Medical Centers, and as the founding fitness coordinator and faculty practice provider at Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Center for Health and Healing in New York City – the most comprehensive urban-based academic integrative medicine and medical fitness facility in the U.S. at the time.

 

Currently, Jeff operates his own company in New York City, which implements and oversees medical fitness and post-rehabilitation patient services at a clinical facility in Manhattan and provides virtual medical fitness services nationally.  Some additional roles and positions include:

  • Adjunct lecturer at CUNY York College in Queens, NY (teaching strength & conditioning, sports medicine & rehabilitation, exercise prescription for special populations, nutrition & health, and a weight training lab).

  • Consultant and educator for several medical clinics, organizations, and societies across the U.S.

  • Co-host of The Medical Fitness Podcast.

  • Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Greater New York Regional Chapter.

  • Founding chair and current vice-chair of the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Special Populations SIG.

  • Member, executive committee, Medical Fitness Association's Northeast Region.

  • Subject matter expert, selected to develop and lead the exercise component of LNG Canada’s (a $40 billion project) lifestyle medicine-based corporate health program.

  • Founding chair of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Fitness and Medicine MIG.

  • Medical fitness content contributor for the American Physical Therapy Association.

  • Continuing education provider for the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

  • Former subject matter expert for the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 

Jeff also co-authored a 400-page book and corresponding videos on medical fitness with a physician colleague, and is a sought-after speaker, having presented at over 35 conferences (medical, rehab, and fitness) and over two dozen colleges, universities, and medical schools.
